Boulders by Pinnacle Peak (in progress)

This weekend I started work on this painting.  I was standing on the north side of Pinnacle Peak facing north when I took the reference photo of this scenery.  The support is an 18 x 24 stretched linen canvas.

This is the outline drawn over the canvas, which is toned with a desaturated raw sienna.

After the outline was drawn, I painted the main shadow areas.

After painting the shadows, I painted the sky. The color/tone will be adjusted later with scumbling.
